THE ART OF FIRE is a collective of 14 clay artists working on and near Vancouver Island who demonstrate a deep commitment to their understanding of atmospheric firing traditions within contemporary practice.

Choosing to work with techniques celebrate the art of fire, these techniques bring unique, often-unexpected and beautifully varied outcome as the elements interact with clay during the firing process. . Some of the firing methods we use include wood firing, raku, obvara (also known as Baltic raku), smoke / sawdust firing, gas, soda and salt.
